Ambassador of Panama Pay a Visit to UPC

On February 6, 2023, Mr. Leonardo Alfonso Kam Binns, Ambassador of Panama visited UPC. Xu Baofeng, director of the Belt and Road Academy of Beijing Language and Culture University, Zhang Chengxia, Chief Superintendent of the West Coast New Area Administration Committee, Foreign Affairs Service Center, Education and Sports Bureau and other relevant leaders accompanied the visit. Dai Caili,vice president of UPC, and staff from Office of International Affairs, School of Foreign Studies and School of Humanities and Law attended the meeting.

President Dai briefly introduced about UPC, including the characteristics,personnel training, international cooperation , cooperation with higher education institutions in Latin American countries, and education for students from Latin American . She pointed out that Panama is an important partner of the Belt and Road initiative. UPC hopes to establish mutually beneficial cooperation with Panama, higher education institutions and energy companies in Latin American countries, and carry out all-round cooperation in personnel training, scientific research, school-enterprise cooperation, cultural exchanges and other fields.

Director of Office of International Affairs , College of International Education, Dean from the School of Foreign Studies and the School of Humanities and Law delivered speeches respectively, and put forward concrete proposals for cooperation between UPC and Panamanian universities .

Mr. Leonardo Alfonso Kam Binns introduced the development of Panama's economy, energy and universities, saying that economy, trade, education and scientific research are important pillars of China-Panama relations. He talked about the intersections between Panama's universities in scientific research and the characteristics of our university, and put forward constructive cooperation channels and suggestions. He expressed his willingness to promote cooperation between Panama's universities and our university.

During the visit, the delegation visited the key Laboratory of deep oil and gas and the petroleum industry training Center, and highly praised UPC's achievements in scientific research and talent training.
