Known as“Oriental Opera”, International students show great curiosity towards Peking Opera. On April 15,at the“20th UPC Community Culture Festival”organized by the Youth League Committee, international students from Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and other countries are invited to try on Beijing opera costumes, learn Beijing opera movements and experience Chinese quintessence art.
Dapeng, from Uzbekistan, said it was very exciting to put on a Beijing opera costume and experience the charm of Beijing Opera on the ground. To foreigners, the movements and singing of Beijing opera are relatively unfamiliar, but in thisCommunity carnival activity, under the guidance and help of warm and friendly Chinese students, I gained a very unforgettable experience, i hope to have the opportunity to participate in more traditional Chinese art experience activities in the future.
Peking opera is considered to be the quintessence of Chinese traditional theatre. After the arrival of the four major Hui troupes in Beijing in the fifty-five st year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing dynasty, they merged with the Kunqu Opera and Han Opera of Beijing over a period of fifty-six years to form the modern Peking opera, now with more than 200 years of history. In this event, the international students in our school gained a close-up understanding of Chinese Peking opera art and deepened their understanding of Chinese traditional culture and history. The second class content, which closely combines the elements of Chinese traditional culture, will help international students to convey the Chinese voice while promoting the internationalization of our University.
