On February 20, a delegation of Iraqi Ministry of Oil, Iraqi Basra Oil Company, Middle East Branch of China National Petroleum Technology Development Company Limited, and China National Petroleum (Iraq) West Qurna Company came to our university for exchange visits. Vice President Dai Caili met with the visitors. Office of International Affairs, College of International Education, College of Petroleum Engineering, College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, College of Computer Science and Technology, Education Development Center and other departments participated in the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President Dai Caili briefly introduced the history and characteristics of our university, as well as the situation of education for studying in China in recent years. She also expressed her hope that the two sides would carry out in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the training of talents for studying in China and make substantial progress.
Mr. Cheng Wenping, General Manager of the Middle East Branch of China National Petroleum Technology Development Company Limited, delivered a speech, introducing the company's business in Iraq, highly praising the scientific research and talent training of the university, and hoping that our university would train more internationalized talents in the futrue to serve the overseas development and construction of the oil company.
JAWAD KADHINM MOHSIN AL-HILFI, Deputy General Manager of Iraqi Basra Oil Company, introduced the basic situation of Iraqi Basra Company and the cooperation between the company and Chinese universities in talent training, and hoped that the two sides could establish an all-round and multi-level cooperative relationship.
At the meeting, Huang Fang, the head of College of International Education (CIE), gave a detailed introduction of CIE in terms of its development history, characteristic disciplines, scientific research strength, talent cultivation, campus culture and other aspects. During the discussion and exchange session, the two sides carried out in-depth exchanges on the admission requirements for studying in China, training mode, student management services, and company staff training.
Finally, the delegation of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil then visited the laboratories of the relevant faculties of our university and the Petroleum Industry Training Center. After the visit, the Iraqi delegation highly praised our university's scientific research, talent training and campus environment. MOHAMMED HAMDI KAREEM AL-RUBAYE, Deputy Director General of Training and Development Bureau of Iraqi Ministry of Oil, said that Iraqi students and oil company employees would be sent to our university for further study in the later stage, so as to promote the cooperation between the two sides in talent training and strengthen the cultural exchanges between China and Iraq.
Energy cooperation between China and Iran is an important part of the Belt and Road Initiative. Formerly known as Iraqi Southern Oil Company (SOC), Iraqi Basrah Oil Company is one of the 16 oil companies under the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, mainly responsible for the development of oilfields and infrastructure construction in southern Iraq, and is currently responsible for the management of and participates in the development of a number of oilfields and infrastructure in the south of Iraq on behalf of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.
